Taking on a 4A team that won its final four regular season games in 2023, the Adams Central Flying Jets scheduled themselves a pretty decent football team for Week 3 before the ACAC slate begins. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They passed this test with flying red and white colors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jami Roach found Braylend Reber for a touchdown pass in each half and made his seven passing attempts count – to the tune of four completions, two TDs and 66 yards passing to lead the Jets past Muncie Central, 34-6. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reber ended the night with three of those catches for 51 yards and the two scores. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the passing game bit Muncie Central on Roach’s opportunities to let it rip, it was the ground game that set up those opportunities. Coach Michael Mosser enjoyed two 100-yard rushers (shown above) on the night and showed the visiting Bearcats what Jets football is really all about. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It was a physical game on both sides of the ball. They were bigger and faster than our kids,” said Mosser after the game. “We were able to beat them with our misdirection and our play action. That’s a team that is used to playing against spread offenses and that worked to our advantage tonight.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matt Heiser got to 101 yards on 13 carries and had the key touchdown early in the third quarter that crushed any hopes of a Muncie Central comeback. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aaron Hirschy needed just nine carries to get to a game-high 103 yards rushing. He scored the first touchdown of the game and also converted a two-point run in the second half. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mosser gave credit to coach John Hammond’s defense for several stops of the Bearcats in the red zone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two stars, specifically, made a big impact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Linebacker Max Kaehr led the team with four solo tackles and 11 assists. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cam Fravel picked up a sack and three more tackles for loss as he dominated the Bearcat O-Line, helping on nine more additional tackles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It was a physical ballgame,” noted Mosser. “We made some mistakes with some flags and we can’t win ballgames when we have 2nd and 15 or 1st and 15.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Calling the Garrett game in Week 1 a “disaster” for his team, coach Mosser credited his seniors for picking up the pieces and making improvements and getting the 2024 season back on track. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Muncie Central did gain 204 yards of offense, but the Jets did a nice job of keeping the team off the scoreboard despite the yardage gained on some drives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jets’ ACAC journey will begin next Friday with a game against an improved Jay County team. Adams Central fans can hear the call of that game on our sister station, WPGW. The game will be broadcast live on WPGW and can be heard online by visiting their website<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
