If all goes as scheduled, milling of several Decatur streets will begin this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert told city council at its latest meeting that Brooks Construction will begin the milling (removing the top layer of asphalt) \u201cand it will be a long, drawn-out process.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the Brooks schedule holds, paving will begin on Sept. 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A state Community Crossings grant is funding the major portion of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The grant totals $810,508.10. The city is providing a match of some $253,300 (which was budgeted), boosting total funds available for the work to over $1 million: $1,013,135.12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The work includes resurfacing the Riverside Center parking lot and the city lot behind Two Brothers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
