After dropping both games on their first weekend trip to Yorktown last Saturday, the Bellmont Braves took a big step forward in their 2024 season by dispatching all four opponents this Saturday, including three 4A opponents. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 4A volleyball school themselves, the Braves surprised even themselves with the wins over Zionsville, Crown Point and Westfield. The team also defeated Concordia Lutheran, but that was considered likely after beating the Cadets just a few days earlier. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tournament was played in a best-of-three format. The Braves needed additional points in the final set to beat Westfield and needed a 28-26 win in the second to beat Concordia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Braves were once again without Lilly Selking, who is injured, and Liz Bobay, who left with an injury during the early part of Thursday’s game at South Adams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gracie Riggs is now serving as the team’s setter and she finished with a whopping 112 assists in the four matches. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adams Central falls at Wapahani<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adams Central played in the Wapahani Invite Saturday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jets defeated Seton Catholic 25-17, 25-23. Paige Hamilton led the team with six kills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the next round, AC went three sets to beat Oak Hill, 25-21, 19-25, 15-10. Freshman Emma Hirschy had 13 kills to lead the Jets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wapahani won the event, however, with a sweep of the Jets, 25-15, 25-23. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heritage competes at Huntington North<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heritage knocked off Marion, 25-10, 25-12, but lost for the second time this season to Northridge in straight sets, 25-21, 25-17. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team won two more matches Saturday, beating Huntington North with a second-set thriller, 25-19, 31-29, and dropping the opening set with Northrop, they bounced back to win in three against the Bruins, 18-25, 25-13, 15-9. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
