{"id":19086,"date":"2024-08-30T14:37:55","date_gmt":"2024-08-30T18:37:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=19086"},"modified":"2024-08-30T14:37:57","modified_gmt":"2024-08-30T18:37:57","slug":"hot-night-hot-rock-as-chamber-series-concludes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2024\/08\/30\/hot-night-hot-rock-as-chamber-series-concludes\/","title":{"rendered":"Hot night, hot rock as Chamber series concludes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A group of hard-rockin&#8217; area musicians brought down the curtain on the Decatur Chamber&#8217;s 2024 Summer Concert Series Thursday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its first appearance on the Madison Street Plaza, City Lights turned out the lights on this year&#8217;s series, the 13th consecutive Thursday night over three months bringing out a nice-sized crowd on a hot night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>White Noise, a group of young local guys, got the night of rock off to a great start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was 87 degrees with 67% humidity as Fort Wayne-based City Lights kicked off its presentation of nearly three full hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/902F679B56374CFD86123551A2FE40FA.jpg?resize=640%2C320&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19087\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/902F679B56374CFD86123551A2FE40FA.jpg?w=672&amp;ssl=1 672w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/902F679B56374CFD86123551A2FE40FA.jpg?resize=300%2C150&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>City Lights<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Classic rock was their thing, the band said, and there was plenty of it Thursday night: Mellencamp to the Stones, Journey to Foreigner, ZZ Top to the Doobies, even Loverboy and Metallica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And how&#8217;s this for diversity: the Commodores and Alannah Myles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Six of the seven band members performed vocals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City Lights traces its roots to 1979 when two current members of the band \u2013 lead vocalist\/guitarist Dick Swary of Payne, Ohio, and drummer Wally Hull of Latty, Ohio \u2013 played together in a band called Spice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City Lights performs throughout the area, and earlier this year has been in Monroeville, Harlan, Warsaw and Celina, Ohio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WHITE NOISE: The rockin&#8217; started early, with White Noise hitting it hard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"249\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/5ADDB95416854FF78B8F6D784C40B9B6.jpg?resize=640%2C249&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19088\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/5ADDB95416854FF78B8F6D784C40B9B6.jpg?w=741&amp;ssl=1 741w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/5ADDB95416854FF78B8F6D784C40B9B6.jpg?resize=300%2C117&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>White Noise<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The five guys (who brought their own cheering section) performed three songs, including \u201cWar Pigs\u201d by Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next day, City Lights posted this on its Facebook page: \u201cShout out to the teen band White Noise that played before us.
