A strong round of 97 by Starfire No. 1 Julia Arnold helped the South Adams Starfires take sixth place in the Monroe Central Invite Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Northeastern won the event with an excellent round of 384. The Starfires were a couple dozen strokes back at 418. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The back end of the lineup had the best performance Saturday, with No. 4 and No. 5 playing their best rounds of the year. Nora Ringger scored for the Stars with her 106 and Kendall Minger also contributed with a personal-best round of 111. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minger’s 18-hole score was 11 strokes better than her round at Honeywell earlier in the season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other scores for the Stars included a 104 for Brooklyn Green and a 114 for Megan Yoder. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Head coach Chris Toledo surmised that the Starfires had a bit of an advantage Saturday because of the setting of the home course for Monroe Central. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s surrounded by corn and beans,” he noted happily, “it’s all we know!”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a more serious note, Toledo pointed out that the increasing temperatures made a big difference on every team as the rounds rolled on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
