Indiana recently honored local farms owned and operated by the same family for at least 100 years with Hoosier Homestead awards, according to State Rep. Matt Lehman (R-Berne) and State Sen. Travis Holdman (R-Markle).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With agriculture being a leading industry in the state, it’s important to celebrate the achievements of those hardworking and longstanding farm families who have helped make this happen,” Lehman said. “Congratulations to these families on reaching this tremendous milestone and I wish them continued success.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Farms owned and operated by the same family for 100, 150 and 200 years can qualify for centennial, sesquicentennial or bicentennial Hoosier Homestead awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It’s because of these hard-working Hoosier family farms that agriculture contributes over $35 billion to Indiana’s economy,” Holdman said. “It’s an honor to recognize these families for their dedication and commitment to the farming legacy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following farms received Hoosier Homestead centennial awards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0Price Farm in Wells County, in operation since 1919<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The local farm families were among 104 awardees recently recognized at the Indiana State Fair for their dedication to the state’s agriculture industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hoosier Homestead ceremonies are conducted every spring and summer. The state has honored more than 6,000 farms since the award was established in 1976.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
