{"id":17534,"date":"2024-07-03T16:22:18","date_gmt":"2024-07-03T20:22:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=17534"},"modified":"2024-07-03T16:22:19","modified_gmt":"2024-07-03T20:22:19","slug":"brandt-leaving-post-as-hive-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2024\/07\/03\/brandt-leaving-post-as-hive-director\/","title":{"rendered":"Brandt leaving post as HIVE director"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kim Brandt, who breathed life into an idea for a downtown cultural arts center in Decatur, is stepping down as executive director of The HIVE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was revealed by Community Coordinator Jamie Gephart at Tuesday night&#8217;s city council meeting that Brandt&#8217;s last day in the post will be July 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"288\" height=\"288\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/unnamed-4.jpg?resize=288%2C288&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17535\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/unnamed-4.jpg?w=288&amp;ssl=1 288w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/unnamed-4.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 288px) 100vw, 288px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Brandt<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gephart was given permission by council to begin the process of hiring a new director for the center on Second St. in the midst of downtown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe HIVE is in a good place for someone new to come in and take over,\u201d Brandt told WZBD.com. \u201cSales (of art work) continue to increase as more people learn about the HIVE and find the doors open.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"419\" height=\"288\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/400CD75B9CDE4452A5EE80445B834E1B.jpg?resize=419%2C288&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17536\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/400CD75B9CDE4452A5EE80445B834E1B.jpg?w=419&amp;ssl=1 419w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/400CD75B9CDE4452A5EE80445B834E1B.jpg?resize=300%2C206&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 419px) 100vw, 419px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>A wall at The HIVE<\/em>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe HIVE really has potential to be the heart of the city.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seeking more free time is a major reason she is departing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYes, I am ready for more free time and possibly to see what I can create next,\u201d Brandt said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brandt took the&nbsp;HIVE (Harness, Innovate, Visualize, Energize) post in May of 2022.
