The Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) is pleased to announce that the Decatur Chamber of Commerce was recently awarded a grant for support of the downtown flower planters. The Chamber plants flowers in thirty-four downtown flowerpots and two window boxes on the Madison Street Plaza to add color and beautify the business district for shopping and events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a lot to do when in Decatur for residents and visitors.\u00a0While community members and visitors are downtown, they get to appreciate the color and beauty of downtown Decatur while walking the sidewalks and enjoying the Decatur Sculpture Tour.\u00a0The 2024 DST gallery features 29 new exhibits for residents, students, and tourists to enjoy.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Thursday night concert series, also sponsored by the Decatur Chamber, has announced the line-up of local favorite bands (typically the bands begin at 6:30pm).\u00a0These are:\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JUNE:\u00a0<\/strong>6-27-24: The Broken Hearts (Ultimate Tom Petty Tribute) \/\/\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

JULY:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>7-04-24:\u00a0 Crush (Bon Jovi Concert Experience) \/ 7-11-24: Hair Banger Ball\u00a0 \/ 7-18-24: Bill Werling Square Dancing \/ 7-25-24: Silver Stallion \/\/\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AUGUST:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>8-01-24: TBA \/ 8-08-24:\u00a0 The Bulldogs \/ 8-15-24: Fleetwood Gold \/ 8-22-24: Sweetwater All Star \/ 8-29-24: City Lights<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coshow reports the Chamber encourages the location business to \u2018adopt\u2019 the flowerpots and care for them.\u00a0 The ACCF staff, especially Deb Cook, is proud to be one of these care-givers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Linda Morris, Assistant Director of the Decatur Chamber of Commerce, expressed her appreciation to the ACCF for this support.\u00a0She noted the flowers add to the visitor experience of the downtown business district of Decatur. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Selking, ACCF grants committee member, noted that the ACCF is pleased to be able to support the Decatur Chamber of Commerce and their efforts to maintain the colorful flowerpots in Decatur\u2019s downtown area.\u00a0These added to the family friendly events on the Second Street Gallery with the Decatur Sculpture Tour, on Madison Street Plaza with the weekly summer concert series, and to recognize and promote local businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This ACCF grant was made possible through unrestricted fund sponsored by the John and Kay Boch Fund.\u00a0John Boch was the Decatur postmaster and Kay Boch was the owner of the popular \u2018Kiddie Shop\u2019 on Second Street in Decatur. Though deceased, they are leaders in the philanthropic giving in Adams County. Establishing a supporting organization in the ACCF in 1996, this fund has provided stability to the Foundation. Growing the fund to over $5,000,000, nephew Robert Boch was very dutiful as he managed the investment and the distribution of the grants and scholarships.\u00a0This local couple continues to provide support to a community they so loved.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
