The Adams County Community Foundation recently awarded a grant to the American Red Cross of NE Indiana for Adams County Blood Drives. Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood, and because blood and blood products are perishable and cannot be manufactured, they must be continually replenished to meet or prepare for ongoing need. Therefore, the American Red Cross, who provides approximately forty percent of the nation\u2019s blood supply, partners with over a dozen hosts in Adams County for over thirty blood drives each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kattoline Rospopo, American Red Cross Grants Coordinator, expressed appreciation to the ACCF for this support. She noted that there were eight blood drives and 253 units of blood donated in Adams County during the time of this grant.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jennifer Sexton, American Red Cross Executive Director, noted that the need for blood is constant and urgent, and people in Adams County and across the country rely on the Red Cross to meet this critical demand.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ken Ketzler, ACCF Board and grants committee member, noted that the ACCF is pleased to be able to support the American Red Cross and their efforts to provide their services to people in need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This ACCF grant was made possible through unrestricted funds sponsored by the Matthew Fosdick and the Don Wood Family Community Enrichment funds.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matthew Fosdick loved to help people, and he put his talent with tools to use doing just that.\u00a0Matthew was especially compassionate, sympathetic, and even empathetic to people who had life struggles. Matthew died at a young age after a sudden illness.\u00a0This fund is to provide support to Adams County residents who experience similar struggles with alcohol addiction, offering help with education, prevention, and treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Donald Wood was a well-known respected businessman, innovator, and pacesetter from Columbia City, Indiana. With the support of his two sons, John and Doug, the three started a business, while his son, Dave, joined the company a few years later. The Wood family grew 80\/20 Inc. in Whitley County.\u00a0 Generous unrestricted funds were established in eleven counties that surround the home office of 80\/20.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
