Blume, Sr. and Irene W. (Bloemker) Blume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignleft size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/8982001_fbs.jpg?resize=200%2C200&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17287\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/8982001_fbs.jpg?w=200&amp;ssl=1 200w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/8982001_fbs.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gene served in the Army Reserves for seven years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was united in marriage to Kristine L. Lee on October 29, 1966, at the Salem United Church of Christ in Magley. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gene was a member of the Decatur Church of God and a former member of the Assembly of God and Salem United Church of Christ in Magley, where he was baptized and confirmed. &nbsp;He served as an adult Sunday school teacher for over 50 years and was actively involved in the Jail Ministry for 30 years as well as LOVE, Inc. He was a Charter Member of the Full Gospel Men\u2019s Fellowship International and the Decatur Christian Lay Council. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #43 in Decatur. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He retired from Hoosier Wire Die with 35 years of service and also was a lifelong Adams County farmer at Blume Family Farm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gene loved traveling with his family and enjoyed history and reading his Bible. &nbsp;He also enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kris Blume of Decatur, Indiana; son, Bill (Nichole) Blume of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Becky (Kurt) Ashley of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Elizabeth \u201cLiz\u201d Blume of Decatur, Indiana; son, Steve Blume of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Jon Blume of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Dianne (Sam) Ortiz of Decatur, Indiana; sister-in-law, Sandy Blume of Decatur, Indiana; sister-in-law, Betty Blume of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother-in-law, Charlie Fuhrman of Delphi, Indiana; sister-in-law, Bobbi Mauller of Decatur, Indiana; brother-in-law, John Lee of Decatur, Indiana; three grandchildren, Nicholas (Megan) Weldy, Adrienne (Ben) Fullenkamp, and Andrea Gerig all of Decatur, Indiana; five great-grandchildren, Madeline &amp; Watson Weldy, Palmer J. Fullenkamp, Jacob &amp; EmmaLyn Gerig; and several nieces &amp; nephews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Edward, David, Jesse Jr. and Don Blume and sister, Joan Blume-Fuhrman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Zwick &amp; Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur with Pastor Ed Lovelace.
