Amos M. Girod, 70, of Berne, Indiana passed away at 3:37 a.m. Sunday, June 16, 2024, at his residence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was born in Monroe, Indiana on November 14, 1953 to the late Menno S. and Maryann W. (Schwartz) Girod. He married Elizabeth E. Schwartz on November 9, 1975 in Berne, Indiana and she survives. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Amos was a member of the Old Order Amish. He worked in building construction and was a furniture maker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is survived by six sons and six daughters, Henry A. (Lizzie) Girod, of Licking, Missouri; Menno A. (Priscilla) Girod, of Licking, Missouri; Joseph A. (Edna) Girod, of Licking, Missouri; Samuel A. (Lizzie) Girod, of Berne, Indiana; Stephen A. (Leah) Girod, of Licking, Missouri; Ben A. (Rebecca) Girod, of Berne, Indiana; Maryann A. (Joseph) Neuenschwander, of Berne, Indiana; Elizabeth A. (Joseph) Eicher, of Berne, Indiana; Lovina A. Girod, of Berne, Indiana; Josephine A. (Joe) Troyer, of Geneva, Indiana; Emma A. (Jacob) Eicher, of Bryant, Indiana; and Frances A. (Jakie) Schwartz, of Licking, Missouri; Three brothers and six sisters, Samuel M. (Ada) Girod, of Berne, Indiana; David M. (Rebecca) Girod, of Geneva, Indiana; Ben M. (Esther) Girod, of Berne, Indiana; Elizabeth Christner, of Berne, Indiana; Josephine (Noy) Wenger, of Geneva, Indiana; Mary (Johnny) Schwartz, of Moreland, Indiana; Emma (Sam) Christner, of Monroe, Indiana; Susan (Joe) Schwartz, of Monroe, Indiana; and Martha (Noah) Schwartz, of Decatur, Indiana; Seventy-one grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to his parents, Amos was preceded in death by his son, Amos A. Girod in 1980; a grandson, Amos H. Girod in 2014; two brothers, Joe and Jerry Girod; and a sister, Lydia Girod. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at the Amos M. Girod residence, 7527 South 450 East, Berne, Indiana, with Bishop Menno R. Girod officiating. Burial will follow at Bunker Hill Cemetery. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Visitation will be held at the Amos M. Girod residence from Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, and 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
