(Schoen) Miller. &nbsp;She married her husband, Robert A. Hemmelgarn on October 1, 1960. &nbsp;Bob and Betty were married for over 63 years, until his passing in January of this year. &nbsp;Betty is survived by five of their children: David &amp; Julie Hemmelgarn of Spencerville, Deborah &amp; Jack Rutschilling of Coldwater, Dwayne &amp; Ann Hemmelgarn of Coldwater, Douglas &amp; Shelly Hemmelgarn of Burkettsville, and Daniel &amp; Jesica Hemmelgarn of Burkettsville. &nbsp;Also surviving are 16 grandchildren: Jason, Josh, Megan, Taylor, Jeff, Andy, Nikki, Kristin, Nathan, Collin, Olivia, Lauren, Lydia, Abby, Sara, and Luke, and 18 great grandchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Surviving siblings and in-laws include Arleen Miller of Portland, IN, Gerald &amp; Helen Miller of Decatur, IN, Imogene Wilder of Decatur, IN, Ann Miller of Ft. Wayne, Thomas Miller of Bryan, OH, Donald &amp; Mary Miller of St. Henry, Marcia Miller of Coldwater, Anna Lee &amp; Ralph Dahlinghaus of Burkettsville, Philip &amp; Dana Hemmelgarn of Bradford, Dennis Hemmelgarn of Burkettsville, James &amp; Joyce Hemmelgarn of Russia, Susan &amp; Randy Luttmer of St. Henry, and Howard &amp; Jeannette Osterholt of St. Henry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to her parents and husband, Betty is preceded in death by a son, Donald Hemmelgarn, a grandson Eric Rutschilling, her father &amp; mother-in-law Henry &amp; Martha Hemmelgarn, as well as siblings and in-laws: Gerald Miller, Richard &amp; Viola Miller, Mary Ann Miller, James Wilder, James Miller, Mark Miller, Betty Osterholt, and Kathy Hemmelgarn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Betty was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Burkettsville. &nbsp;She was active in maintaining the appearance of Main St. in Burkettsville. &nbsp;Betty enjoyed baking, was a very giving person, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Monday, June 10, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Burkettsville. &nbsp;Burial in St. Bernard Cemetery will follow the funeral mass. &nbsp;Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 1-5pm on Sunday, June 9, and from 9-10am on Monday, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry. &nbsp; Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice or the St. Bernard Church Improvement Fund in Burkettsville. &nbsp;Condolences for the family may be expressed in person or at hogenkampfh.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Betty Lou Hemmelgarn, age 83 of Burkettsville, passed peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Mercer County Community<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[8],"tags":[23],"class_list":["post-17128","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-obituaries","tag-obit"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/17128","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=17128"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/17128\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=17128"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=17128"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=17128"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
