{"id":17108,"date":"2024-06-06T12:18:33","date_gmt":"2024-06-06T16:18:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=17108"},"modified":"2024-06-06T12:18:34","modified_gmt":"2024-06-06T16:18:34","slug":"wildflowers-numbers-highest-yet-celebrate-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2024\/06\/06\/wildflowers-numbers-highest-yet-celebrate-saturday\/","title":{"rendered":"Wildflowers numbers highest yet; celebrate Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/wildflowers-room.jpg?resize=640%2C375&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17109\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/wildflowers-room.jpg?w=704&amp;ssl=1 704w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/wildflowers-room.jpg?resize=300%2C176&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WZBD.com<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fourth session of free music instruction offered to Adams County students by the Connor Brite&#8217;s Wildflowers program has its largest group yet!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A total of 19 young people are involved in the June start to the latest edition of the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program is funded in part by the annual Wildflowers celebration which is set to begin at 5 p.m. this Saturday on the Madison St. Plaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The music program offers free introductory lessons for four months in drums, guitar and keyboard to all Adams County students in grades 4 through 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The sessions are given in a Wildflowers room in the MERIT Center, former Northwest School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volunteer instructors are: Sydney Sanderson (guitar), Debbie Christian (keyboard), Curt Rash (drums) and Teri Morningstar (guitar and keyboard).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CELEBRATION: The Wildflowers celebration is held each year to honor the memory of Connor Brite, one of three local victims of a tragic traffic crash, and to raise funds to support the music program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saturday&#8217;s event will feature live music, food, adult beverages, and more, including the sale of special Wildflowers T-shirts ($15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>T-shirts are available now online at the Connor Brite Wildflowers website: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cjbwildflowers.com\">www.cjbwildflowers.com<\/a> They will be picked up at the concert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year&#8217;s shirt features blue and gold colors, reflecting Connor&#8217;s love of Notre Dame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Music will be provided by the School of Rock (5-6:30), Penny Drip (6:45-7:45), and the band Decades 8-11). In addition, two students of the free lessons program will perform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among food vendors will be the Decatur Optimist Club, Adams Post 43 of the American Legion, and the Itacate food truck.
