PRESS RELEASE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A program at the South Adams auditorium was an event that many anticipated for months.\u00a0Many SA seniors and parents attended the 2023 South Adams Scholarship event. The eight-page scholarship application (with two required letters of recommendation and six-semester transcripts) was due mid-January, and seniors learned of their rewards three months later.\u00a0With $90,000+ in Adams County Community Foundation (ACCF) community scholarships presented, Coni Mayer, ACCF executive director, reported that there were 95\u00a0scholarships presented from 44 ACCF named funds presented to 29 South Adams seniors.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With colorful balloons and prepared programs, Mrs. Chris Gilbert and Mrs. Mara Myers, SA guidance Department administrators, insured the festive atmosphere matched the excitement of the evening. The South Adams event began with welcoming comments by Principal Mr. Cory Runkel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Runkle celebrated this gathering with recognition to the South Adams Scholarship Committee, particularly chairperson Janene Teeter, Adams County Community Foundation, Coni Mayer, ACCF director, and Deb Cook, ACCF Scholarship administrator, along with SA guidance counselors Chris Gilbert and Mara Myers, local businesses, teachers, parents and students.\u00a0He lauded the cooperation of these groups that allowed this event to be presented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Gilbert, SA guidance counselor, announced the various community scholarships and student recognitions.\u00a0The evening was a celebration of the seniors and their view into the future with their \u2018next chapter\u2019 being college or training programs. This community is very generous with our scholarship opportunities and a sincere thank you was extended to the ACCF donors and this community for the support of their time and financial backing.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
