(Photo by Randy Hisner)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Cole\u2019s toss of 43-5 was the second-best of her season and only two inches from her regional-winning effort last week.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She delivered the big throw under a lot of pressure. In the trials, she fouled on her first attempt, and her second went 41-5.25, a good effort but not far enough to guarantee a spot in the finals. (Photo by Randy Hisner)<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The two other Z-Landers in the shot put competition\u2014Heritage seniors Maya Gerber and Madilyn Scheumann\u2014did not reach the finals, but Scheumann, seeded 16th, came close, finishing 12th with a huge PR of 40-6.75. Her previous best was 39-6.25, set last week in the Carroll Regional.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/31mayRandyAndScheumann.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Heritage High School&#8217;s Madilyn Scheumann took the time to speak with WZBD&#8217;s Randy Hisner during Friday&#8217;s coverage of the state track and field meet. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf I had one goal today it was to touch 40,\u201d said Scheumann, \u201cand I met that, so I\u2019m super ecstatic about it. Jackson took second there also.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/RandyAndHabisch.mp3\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Heritage throwing coach Jason Habisch and WZBD&#8217;s Randy Hisner talked about the performance of the Patriot throwers at the state meet. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Third-ranked Warren Central won the team title with 57.5 points. Bloomington North was second with 41, top-ranked Hamilton Southeastern third with 29. Carroll, fourth with 26 points, was the top area team. The Chargers won the 4X100 relay in 47.46. The only other winner from the Carroll Regional was Concordia\u2019s 4X800 relay team, which ran 9:00.52.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delta senior Nicki Southerland was a double winner, taking the 800 meters in 2:06.5 and the 1600 meters in 4:41.98.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shot putter Logan Teichman of Heritage will represent Z-Land Saturday in the boys\u2019 finals, also at Indiana University.
