{"id":16643,"date":"2024-05-23T09:35:21","date_gmt":"2024-05-23T13:35:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=16643"},"modified":"2024-05-23T09:35:21","modified_gmt":"2024-05-23T13:35:21","slug":"legion-activities-set-trash-pickups-delayed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2024\/05\/23\/legion-activities-set-trash-pickups-delayed\/","title":{"rendered":"Legion activities set; trash pickups delayed"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Memorial Day, the first of the three \u201csummer holidays,\u201d is fast approaching and, as usual, will feature activities by the American Legion&#8217;s Adams Post 43 in Decatur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First up will be the placing of flags on the grave sites of veterans on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting at 8:30 a.m., the Legion will place flags in the Catholic Cemetery at the west edge of Decatur, then move across US 224 to the Decatur Cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Catholic Cemetery will be the scene of Monday&#8217;s start to activities, with a Legion Color Guard ceremony at 8:30 a.m., followed by a repeat of the service at Decatur Cemetery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At 10:30 a.m., Legion members will gather at the Jackson St. bridge, where a wreath-dropping ceremony will be led by Adams Superior Court Judge Sam Conrad, a veteran.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He will then lead the annual parade to the Peace Monument on the southwest side or the courthouse, where past Post Commander Garry Murdock will speak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The parade will move from Jackson St. to Second St., then head south to Court St. and the courthouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Legion officials say all ceremonies are open to the public, including a cookout to follow the activities at the Peace Monument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CLOSINGS, TRASH: Governmental offices and some businesses will be closed on Monday to observe Memorial Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In Decatur, officials said trash\/recycling collections will be pushed back one day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Monday&#8217;s normal pickups will be done Tuesday, etc., with the usual Friday collection being made on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City Hall and the Adams County Courthouse will, of course, be closed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By BOB SHRALUKA WZBD.com Memorial Day, the first of the three \u201csummer holidays,\u201d is fast approaching and, as<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":16644,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[7,5],"tags":[14,56,15,21],"class_list":["post-16643","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-events","category-news","tag-decatur","tag-events","tag-featured","tag-news"],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/73F60C4AFAEB4883903B564B632776F5.jpg?fit=329%2C384&ssl=1","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/16643","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=16643"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/16643\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/16644"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=16643"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=16643"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=16643"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
