The MERIT Center in Decatur has announced that it is hiring a part-time learning center coordinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applications are now being accepted, Community Coordinator Jamie Gephart said in a news release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The learning center coordinator will:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Organize and schedule training classes and events at the MERIT Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Monitor and provide on-site support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Manage the budget, materials, services and other resources available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Report to the MERIT Center board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abby Wilder, a member of Decatur City Council, said at the council’s May 7 meeting that the learning center coordinator would work 15 hours a week at $15 per hour. The position is expected to eventually become self-sufficient through various fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wilder has been working with the MERIT Board to put together the particulars of the position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wilder, Gephart and Adams Public Library System Director Kelly Ehinger form a committee which will interview applicants. Their recommendation will go to city council for approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf it needs to grow, this (coordinator position) is needed,\u201d Councilwoman Jenny Bowers-Shultz said at the May 7 meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
