Bellmont Middle School distance runners Emmett Glenn and Nehemiah Richmond came home with first-place medals from the NE8 Middle School Conference Meet at New Haven Friday night. The top finish for the girls was a runner-up performance by discus thrower Braelyn Radecki.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glenn, a sixth-grader, gradually moved up from the middle of the pack in the 1600-meter run, kicking past his last two rivals in the final lap to earn the victory in 5:05.33, over five seconds ahead of runner-up Hudson Petrie of Norwell.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nehemiah Richmond won the 800 for BMS. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Richmond ran a similarly strategic race in the 800 meters. He was in third place with 300 meters to go but passed Kyler Frey of Riverview on the back stretch and then blistered the final 100 meters to overtake Petrie for the victory in 2:16.59. Petrie was close behind in 2:17.67.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Richmond was third in the discus for BMS. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Radecki threw the discus 83-2 to earn her second-place medal. Maudie Lash of East Noble won the event with a toss of 86-4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the boys\u2019 side, the Braves also received individual points from Dom McDowell (7th<\/sup> in the shot put with a throw of 34-6.5), Dylan Painter (6th<\/sup> in the 110 hurdles in 19.25), Glenn (6th<\/sup> in the 800 in 2:22.58), and Chris Richmond (3rd<\/sup> in the discus with a throw of 114-2).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bellmont\u2019s 4X100 relay team (Corbyn Omlor, Chris Richmond, Nehemiah Richmond, Dylan Painter) placed 7th<\/sup> in 51.35, and the 4X400 relay team (Owen Garcia, Chris Richmond, Nehemiah Richmond, and Preston Shirack) finished 5th<\/sup> in 4:03.66.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other points for the girls came from Alayna Baker (5th<\/sup> in the shot put at 25-10) and Radecki (6th<\/sup> in the shot put, 25-8.5).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dekalb won the boys\u2019 team competition with 109 points to the 98 of Riverview. Bellmont was seventh with 40 points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indian Springs easily took the girls\u2019 title, scoring 159 to the 106.5 of runner-up Norwell. Bellmont was ninth with 15 points.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
