What started on Thursday ended on Monday and the Heritage Patriots outscored the Adams Central Jets in the Monday portion to win an important ACAC game, 5-4. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The game was originally scheduled for Thursday and the two teams only played two innings after an initial delay before a deluge washed out any chance of the softball (or the neighboring baseball game) being completed. The two teams agreed to meet back up and resume play on Monday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When they left off, the score was tied 2-2 and Adams Central took the lead on a two-out error in the outfield after a single by Jenna Cook. Cook ended the inning with an out at home, with the outfield assist coming from left fielder Riley Davis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heritage scored in the same manner, capitalizing on an Adams Central error to score twice on passed balls with two outs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Danica Fuller had success on the mound, earning the victory, she also played a key role at the plate. Fuller led off the bottom of the fifth with a single, then used her speed to take two bases and score an insurance run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Libby Cain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With two runs to work with and just six outs to get, Fuller went 1-2-3 in the sixth. On the first pitch of the seventh inning, though, AC catcher Athena Schwartz homered to left to cut the lead in half at 5-4. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fuller recovered and got the next three batters in a row, with the last out coming via three straight swings and misses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Jets touched Fuller for nine hits and four runs, but only two were earned and she walked just one. The Heritage spark plug had nine strikeouts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lilli Jackson took the loss for the Jets, throwing a complete game and allowing three earned runs. She struck out five and walked none. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Schwartz and Melina Peralez each had two hits off Fuller. Brinlee Rinkenberger knocked in two runs on Thursday with a double. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A cramped schedule has gotten even busier for both teams. The Patriots are set to play seemingly every day before they face Garrett in the sectional, beginning with another ACAC clash Tuesday at Bluffton. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
