Adams Central played a pair of games in the four-team Central Noble Invite Saturday and finished in second place, beating Goshen 16-10 in the opener and falling to the host Cougars in the finals, 2-1. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jenna Cook threw a complete game in the loss in the finals, allowing just the two earned runs in six innings of work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Jets’ bats were held silent by Grace Swank until the seventh inning, when Audrey Eisberg knocked in Izzy Isch to cut the Cougar lead to 2-1, but Swank got the final batter to give the home team the trophy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Melina Peralez had two singles against Swank. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was a much different game in the opener, where the two teams combined for 26 runs. Adams Central set the tone early with a seven-run first inning. They led 11-0 after 2.5 innings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brinlee Rinkenberger started the game in the circle and hit a triple. Along with a single, she drove in three runs and scored twice. Rinkenberger went three innings and was relieved by Myla Ellenberger. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jenna Cook threw the final two innings to seal the win and get ready for the finals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Jets will look to rebound Tuesday at New Haven. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
