The Bellmont Braves were facing a four-game losing streak Saturday in the second game of their doubleheader with Wayne. Down to their last out, they got a single from senior Andrew James, who then stole second and scored on an RBI hit by Jack Scheumann to tie the game. A few pitches later, they won the game 6-5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fast forward to Tuesday and it was James again providing the Braves with offense and this time it meant even more with the opponent coming out of the NE8. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

James had three hits Tuesday, scoring twice and knocking in two more as Bellmont beat Huntington North 8-3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aidan Zimmerman drew the start for the Braves and went five innings, allowing six hits and two earned runs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dylan Velez provided two runs, a hit and an RBI from the bottom of the Braves’ lineup Tuesday. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

James and Dylan Velez put Bellmont up 2-1 in the second and they led again at 4-2 after a couple of small-ball RBIs by Keagan Martin and Will Baker in the fifth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senior Jack Eckert started the game for visiting Huntington North, striking out eight and throwing a complete game. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Aidan Zimmerman put the Braves in position to win with his 5+ innings of work. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

When the first two batters reached off Zimmerman in the top of the sixth, coach Aaron Baker called on Jack Scheumann to save the Braves and he did just that, setting down all six batters he faced in a row.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Scheumann got the Braves out of the jam in the top of the sixth, they went to work with the bats in the bottom. Gavin Krull knocked in two with a line drive to left and James and Scheumann each had RBIs to push the lead to 8-3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Franze scored a run for the Braves Tuesday night against Huntington North. <\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Braves will take a break from their NE8 slate to take on rivals Heritage at home Wednesday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
