As the boys were taking walks and stealing bases on the baseball diamond against Southern Wells, it was quite a different story on the softball diamond Thursday night for the home Heritage Patriots. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The team belted out ten extra base hits (they only had two singles), including four home runs by four different players as they crushed Southern Wells, 15-3. Audra Bickel ended the contest via the run rule with a walk-off, three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ironically, Southern Wells actually took the lead in the top of the first with a home run of their own when Gracie Reeves hit one out to left field. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Libby Cain quickly reversed that score, knocking in Danica Fuller with a home run of her own to center in the top of the first. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two batters later, Grace Guenthner hit a 1-0 pitch out herself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Danica homered in the second when she came back up to bat, knocking in two more and giving the home team a 6-1 lead. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Abriyah James had a triple and a single and scored twice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lucy Buuck threw all five innings and allowed just three hits. Only one of the runs she allowed was earned. She struck out four. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
