A home run by Brooke Thomas in the second inning gave Adams Central a lead Wednesday night at Woodlan, but the home Warriors were just pesky enough to pull off a comeback with single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings for a 3-2 ACAC victory. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thomas’s home run to center field in the second inning opened the scoring and the Jets snatched another run later in the inning on a passed ball to lead early, 2-0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lilli Jackson was excellent early on, allowing just one hit the first time through the lineup. She did not walk a batter in her six innings of work, but the Warriors were able to put the ball in play, striking out just once. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Woodlan finally put it together in the fourth thanks to a double by Victoria Crozier. She took third on an outfield error by the Jets, then scored on a passed ball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Warriors evened the score in the fifth on a home run by Lillian Riley on the first pitch of the inning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two hits started the sixth inning for the home team and more pressure was applied to the AC defense when Jackson plunked a batter to load the bases with one out. The Warriors scored the eventual winning run on a passed ball, putting them in control for the rest of the game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Jets were able to pick up seven hits against Abby Horn, Woodlan’s ace pitcher, but her six strikeouts made the difference late in the game as Adams Central attempted to tie the game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Athena Schwartz singled in the top of the seventh. She was the tying run, but Horn got the last out of the game and pushed the Warriors to 7-1 on the year and atop the ACAC standings. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
