{"id":15175,"date":"2024-04-23T05:40:25","date_gmt":"2024-04-23T09:40:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=15175"},"modified":"2024-04-23T05:40:26","modified_gmt":"2024-04-23T09:40:26","slug":"anspaughs-redone-rudy-shown-at-iu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2024\/04\/23\/anspaughs-redone-rudy-shown-at-iu\/","title":{"rendered":"Anspaugh&#8217;s redone \u201cRudy\u201d shown at IU"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A redone version of \u201cRudy\u201d drew a sellout crowd to the IU Cinema on the Bloomington campus last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The version shown was a director&#8217;s cut, and director David Anspaugh said he was given carte blanche to do as he saw fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI got (full control) and did as I wanted; I really like it,\u201d Anspaugh told WZBD.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/16DB9CEF0980486FAF1C71FED4CBCB82.jpg?resize=480%2C320&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15176\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/16DB9CEF0980486FAF1C71FED4CBCB82.jpg?w=480&amp;ssl=1 480w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/16DB9CEF0980486FAF1C71FED4CBCB82.jpg?resize=300%2C200&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Interior of IU Cinema<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRudy\u201d was produced as a new 4K restoration with 13 minutes added to the film, taking its length to 127minutes in all. \u201cFour K and ultra depth,\u201d Anspaugh explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The showing was free but ticketed, and all tickets were distributed, with the theater offering a standby line the night of the show.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCelebrate the 30th anniversary of the classic Hoosier football story with a brand-new Director&#8217;s Cut with director David Anspaugh, writer Angelo Pizzo, and subject Daniel &#8220;Rudy&#8221; Ruettiger in person!\u201d the IU Cinema announced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A question-and-answer session was held with the audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rudy was filmed in 1992 and released in 1993.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The unique campus theater opened in January of 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s one of the best theaters in the world, a phenomenal place,\u201d said Decatur-native Anspaugh said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IU Cinema hosts approximately 75-85 events per semester, screening films 4-5 days per week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOne of the nation\u2019s most prestigious arthouse cinema&#8217;s \u2026 IU Cinema uses film and cinema studies for intellectual edification and cultural emancipation,\u201d a theater publicity release says. \u201cIU Cinema&#8217;s programming is focused on the world\u2019s most entertaining, fascinating, and thought-provoking films \u2026&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou can hear from prominent filmmakers and scholars, see rarely shown titles, and enjoy one-of-a-kind programs, like the premiere of a score for a silent movie.
