There was little drama in Thursday night\u2019s non-conference matchup between North Side and Bellmont as the Braves pushed 11 runs across in the first inning and the contest mercifully ended after just 4.5 innings of play. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mary Kate Scheumann was the star of the game, starting in the circle and going 4 for 4 at the plate with a whopping seven runs batted in. She hit two triples in the game, one to knock in two runs in the first and another to make it 16-0 in the fourth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scheumann actually had two hits in the first inning, singling her second time up and scoring on Jill Wemhoff\u2019s hit to right. The Braves ended the inning intentionally by making Wemhoff leave early to be called out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Scheumann\u2019s second triple, Piper Baker pumped one out of the park, over the left field fence, to make it 18-0. Baker finished the night 4 for 4, like Scheumann, scoring three times and knocking in three. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emily Bleke raised her average with a 3 for 4 night and Ella Franze had two hits for the Braves as well. Franze ended the night behind the plate, catching for Makenzie Mankey, who took over after Scheumann struck out five in her two innings of work.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mankey allowed three hits over three innings and did not allow a run, striking out three. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The win brings the Braves back to .500 at 7-7 and sets them up nicely for a showdown with South Adams in a game that can be heard live on WZBD Friday night.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
