{"id":15027,"date":"2024-04-19T13:05:38","date_gmt":"2024-04-19T17:05:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=15027"},"modified":"2024-04-19T13:05:47","modified_gmt":"2024-04-19T17:05:47","slug":"officials-stress-dont-drive-into-high-water","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2024\/04\/19\/officials-stress-dont-drive-into-high-water\/","title":{"rendered":"Officials stress: Don&#8217;t drive into high water"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Decatur and Adams County officials are continuing to stress the dangers of people attempting to drive through high water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Decatur Fire Chief Jeff Sheets told city council on April 16 that his department, which handles water rescues, recently had to pull five people, including an infant, out of a vehicle which stalled in high water on County Road 225N.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPlease, if you see high water, don&#8217;t try driving through it,\u201d Sheets said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A day earlier, at a meeting of the Adams County commissioners, Paul Zerby, assistant highway superintendent, said, \u201cThe amount of water rescues has been ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A recent heavy amount of rainfall has brought flooding conditions to several areas in the county and more rain is in the forecast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf there&#8217;s high water on a road, \u201cjust turn around.
