An idea floated at the April 19 meeting of Decatur City Council got some immediate \u201clegs\u201d and seems likely to arise again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the new council members, Jenny Bowers-Shultz, said as the meeting was wrapping up that she thought it would be a good idea for the City of Decatur to have a flag with its own design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI’ve been in Chicago and they have them all over the place,\u201d she said. \u201cIt’s just an idea I’ve been thinking about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt would be good way to market our city.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayor Dan Rickord said that perhaps a contest could be a good way to select a design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Councilman Matt Dyer added that maybe a city design could go on koozies (which bottles and cans sit in), hats, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was also noted that perhaps the Mayor’s Youth Council could take on the idea as a project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
