The National Weather Service offices in the area have been busy following the aftermath of the severe storms that rolled through the area on March 14. The headlines include the tornado the went through Selma and Winchester before moving off into Ohio, with reports of that tornado reaching estimated winds of 165 mph, registering as in EF-3 tornado that was on the ground for over 25 miles in Indiana and destroyed numerous buildings along its path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, in the Z-Land area, most of the area dealt with some gusts of wind, along with some hail damage. WZBD has learned that there was a brief tornado touchdown in Adams County, that then moved on into Mercer County in Ohio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the National Weather Service office in North Webster, at approximately 6:40pm, the tornado initially began over an open field north of the intersection of East County Road 1200 South and South County Road 600 East and moved east towards the Indiana\/Ohio stateline. Damage was limited to an outbuilding, some tree damage and shingle damage to a home along East 1200 South in Adams County, Indiana. The tornado then entered Mercer County, Ohio along Skeels Road where minor damage was observed to a home. The most confident corridor of EF-1 tornado damage, estimated to be around 100 MPH, occurred shortly after the tornado developed. Most of the damage was confined to a few properties south of the intersection of Skeels Road and State Route 49. Several outbuildings were completely destroyed and one home had minor roof damage. The tornado continued and followed Carmel Church Road eastward, numerous trees to be damaged and some outbuildings as well. A more southeast motion started at the intersection of Carmel Church Road and Erastus Durbin Road. Additional damage was noted between this location and the intersection of Now Road and Mud Pike Road. Several homes sustained damage along Mud Pike Road and towards the intersection with State Route 118. The tornado then dissipated east of this intersection at approximately 6:55pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
