{"id":13971,"date":"2024-03-07T18:43:16","date_gmt":"2024-03-07T23:43:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=13971"},"modified":"2024-03-07T18:43:18","modified_gmt":"2024-03-07T23:43:18","slug":"lemaster-now-a-decatur-pd-full-timer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2024\/03\/07\/lemaster-now-a-decatur-pd-full-timer\/","title":{"rendered":"LeMaster now a Decatur PD full-timer"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Logan LeMaster is now a full-time police officer in the city in which he grew up: Decatur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LeMaster has been a member of the department for approximately a year, but at the recommendation of Chief Kevin Gerber, the city&#8217;s board of works has removed his probationary status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A graduate of the Bellmont High School, LeMaster went on to earn a degree from Ball State University. He also graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in Plainfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Logan and his wife, Marilyn, are the parents of a young son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to joining the Decatur PD, he was employed by MKT Landscapes Unlimited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The department remains two officers short of a full complement, but two candidates are awaiting the results of their PERF (Public Employees Retirement Fund) testing. If they pass, the next step will be the academy in Plainfield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>RESERVE EXITS: The department, however, is losing a reserve officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Andrew Smith has decided to leave the post after more than five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe&#8217;s a very busy man; unfortunately, he just doesn&#8217;t have the time to give to it (reserve force),\u201d Chief Gerber said of Smith, manager at the Decatur Ace Hardware.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"243\" height=\"384\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/unnamed-1.jpg?resize=243%2C384&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-13973\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/unnamed-1.jpg?w=243&amp;ssl=1 243w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/unnamed-1.jpg?resize=190%2C300&amp;ssl=1 190w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 243px) 100vw, 243px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Andrew Smith<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In response to a question, Gerber said the reserve force is now down to only three men.
