Kevin Hackman, Decatur’s new clerk-treasurer, recently cleared up some questions involving a previous discussion held by city council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hackman told council he had made some errors in some of the statements during the council’s discussion at the previous meeting. That discussion concerned the city’s arts commission and a request by HIVE Director Kim Brandt for a non-reverting fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hackman’s explanations helped clear up the topic which, it appears, won’t be coming up again this year since some questions were answered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI think we’re all in agreement that we just want to see it (arts commission) grow,\u201d Councilman Matt Dyer said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also at the meeting of council and the board of works:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Police Chief Kevin Gerber told the board he is \u201clooking to upgrade cameras as well as do some door work.\u201d The chief wants to upgrade all high-definition cameras and said Innovative Concepts will do the work for just under $6,500.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funds for the work are in the budget and the board gave its approval.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Following a public hearing with no comments aired, council approved an ordinance to repeal and replace the ordinance concerning fire prevention and fireworks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

* Two ordinances were passed on two readings, then tabled until the next meeting. One is an amendment involving a description within a fee schedule and the other involves a building code addition of specs for commercial fire suppression systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
