Decatur’s wastewater treatment plant came in for some high praise at city council’s recent meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt’s pretty incredible what a handful of employees are doing out there (plant on Monmouth Road) for our water,\u201d said City Attorney Anne Razo. \u201cThey’re keeping our water safe.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI don’t think a lot of people know what all they’re doing out there.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Councilwomen Jenny Bowers-Shultz and Abby Wilder also offered praise for the wastewater department headed by Superintendent Karey Fuelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Affolder and Bowers-Shultz, who joined council in January after being elected last November, have been familiarizing themselves with various city departments, including the fire and police departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two women, along with Razo and new city Utilities Director Erin Hyerly, asked for and were given a tour of the facilities by Fuelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a Facebook post, Wilder said: \u201cAs I acclimate into City Council, I am meeting with department heads to have a better understanding of how we all work together. Today I toured our Wastewater Treatment Plant. Every part of the process was so very interesting. Decatur\u2019s process is very eco-friendly. Thank you to Karey Fuelling and her team for all that you do!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
