Eighth St. in Decatur was demolished Thursday by Advanced Demolition Services of McComb, Ohio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The home, dilapidated and considered a danger to homes on either side of it, has been targeted by the city&#8217;s building and zoning department for some time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A cleanup of the debris, including a basement, is likely to take longer than the demolition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eighth St. was closed between Monroe and Madison streets for the razing, and residents of the two nearby homes were asked to evacuate during the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The demolition had been delayed by the discovery and removal of asbestos in the basement. That $1,300 cost drives the total price for the work to $20,261.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The city will send the bill to the building&#8217;s owner, CONNEX of Huntsville, Alabama.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By BOB SHRALUKA WZBD.com A home at 133 N.
