A pair of last-second takedowns in championship bouts highlighted an outstanding day at the Jay County wrestling regional for Adams County wrestlers as the three county schools advanced a total of 19 individuals to next week’s semi-state in Fort Wayne. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colt Bollenbacher took the title with a clinching two points with seconds remaining at 144 pounds, beating Wyatt Hoppes of Yorktown to give himself the best chance of representing the Starfires at the State Meet in Evansville in two weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

15 minutes later, it was Bellmont’s Duke Myers who electrified the crowd with a takedown at the buzzer to avenge an earlier loss in the season to Kaeb Stebbins of Delta, winning the title at 165 pounds and becoming only the fifth wrestler in Bellmont history to win four regional titles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Adams Central Jets also had a champion as Trevor Currie defeated Bryce Wenk for the third straight week to set himself up for another run at the State Finals. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
