Oak St.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"429\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/EF0D644AB2E04A04AC383B0E44DDC309.jpg?resize=640%2C429&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/EF0D644AB2E04A04AC383B0E44DDC309.jpg?w=644&amp;ssl=1 644w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/EF0D644AB2E04A04AC383B0E44DDC309.jpg?resize=300%2C201&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The first complaints about the home came in mid-May.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Weeds and excessive vegetation have been an on-and-off problem, but the major concern is the deteriorating roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roe said owner David Wilson had visited the building\/zoning office and said he was getting a contractor to cover the roof, but as of the date of the board of works meeting that had not been done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have to do something with it;\u201d as critters are getting inside through the roof, Roe said. \u201cIt&#8217;s a huge roof.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mayor Dan Rickord pointed out that this is not the time (season) of the year to repair a roof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So Building\/Zoning Superintendent Curt Witte recommended giving the owner 60 days to get a signed contract to have the work done. It that doesn&#8217;t happen, then daily fines will begin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have to get something done\u201d Witte said, underscoring Roe&#8217;s comments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNo reason he can&#8217;t get a signed contract within 60 days,\u201d board member Craig Coshow said, making a motion to send the notice for a 60-day period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCOLORFUL\u201d: A home at 230 Oakridge Place \u201cis another one which we have been dealing with for a while,\u201d Roe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The problems there include weeds, excessive vegetation, rubbish and a large piece of rotten plywood (see photo) where a shed once stood in the back yard<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"463\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/ADA71CD3D2154518B59A9CFB83C841FB.jpg?resize=463%2C480&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12684\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/ADA71CD3D2154518B59A9CFB83C841FB.jpg?w=463&amp;ssl=1 463w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/ADA71CD3D2154518B59A9CFB83C841FB.jpg?resize=289%2C300&amp;ssl=1 289w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 463px) 100vw, 463px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The owners are listed as Dorene, Jason and Stephanie Vergara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After notifying the owners of the need for a cleanup, Roe said, \u201cWe got a colorful phone call and a colorful visit. So when we went to talk to them, the colorful language continued.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added that \u201cthere are just tons of little things that need to be cleaned up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some effort to remedy the situation had been made, but as of the board meeting, the work had stopped.<br>Roe said the department had offered the owners some ways to get help, \u201cbut there was no follow through.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So it was decided to have city employees clean up the weeds and excessive vegetation, then send the bill to the owners.
