The Jay County Patriots claimed their eighth consecutive ACAC title Friday night in their home pool, but there was plenty of success individually for county swimmers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adams County teams swept the relays as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notes & Times: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Adams Central started off the meet with a fantastic race in the medley relay. The team of Baylee Smith, Savannah Hendricks, Kate Moser and Brooke Thomas had just broken 2:10 for the first time earlier in the week against Bellmont, but they went way beyond that Friday, finishing in 2:04.25 to edge favorites Jay County by .15 seconds. Moser and Hendricks were both part of last year’s medley relay team that set the school record at the ACAC meet in 2:00.35. The girls will have a chance to chase that record at sectional. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Ava Kinsey (SA) won the 200 Free with her career-best time of 2:10.98. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Nia Litwiller (SA) was sixth in the 200 Free with her best time this season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Julia Arnold cut four seconds off her season best for the Starfires to win the individual medley by five seconds. Teammate Calah Hill also had a season best and was fifth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-AC’s Addison Gilbert had a great performance in the 50, winning with a new career best of 27.07. It is also the fastest 50 time recorded by a county swimmer this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-GenaMarie Summersett (SA) had to settle for second behind Gilbert despite also swimming her career best (27.32).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Baylee Smith (AC) swam her season best and was third in 27.81. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Kate Moser was the champion in the butterfly for Adams Central, cutting 3.5 seconds from her best time to win by nearly four seconds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Brooke Thomas (AC) came within .12 seconds of her career best to swim her season-best time of 59.96 and finish third in the 100 Free. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Addison Gilbert also swam her best time of the year in the 100 and was fourth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-GenaMarie Summersett had a career best in the 100 Free as well, taking fifth place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Julia Arnold scored big points for the Starfish with the only sub-six 500, winning in 5:59.83. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-The 500 also produced season bests for Calah Hill (SA, 4th) and Ella Bluhm (AC, 6th).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

-The relay success continued for Adams Central in the 200 Free Relay, where the Jetskis outswam South Adams for first place, cutting over five seconds from their best time this season and winning in 1:50.30. That team consisted of Addison Gilbert, Kate Moser, Baylee Smith and Brooke Thomas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-South Adams also cut major time to leapfrog over Jay County and Bluffton for second place. Summersett, Nia Litwiller, Arnold and Kinsey finished in 1:51.15. That was nearly six seconds faster than any previous attempt by those four this season and the fastest time by a Starfire relay team in at least three years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Kate Moser (AC) won her favorite event (backstroke) by trimming five seconds from her season best, beating out two Jay County swimmers by a considerable margin. Moser, the school record holder, was just 1.72 seconds behind her all-time mark. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Ella Bluhm (AC) swam a season best and finished sixth in the Breast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

-The Starfish put all their eggs in the 400 Free Relay basket, saving Ava Kinsey for the anchor leg and the team destroyed the rest of the field, winning by nine seconds. Summersett, Litwiller and Arnold joined Ava in cutting 15 seconds off their season best to claim the conference crown. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
