{"id":12052,"date":"2024-01-18T05:50:50","date_gmt":"2024-01-18T10:50:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=12052"},"modified":"2024-01-18T05:50:51","modified_gmt":"2024-01-18T10:50:51","slug":"ag-economist-says-livestock-producers-could-see-lower-feed-costs-in-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/18\/ag-economist-says-livestock-producers-could-see-lower-feed-costs-in-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Ag economist says livestock producers could see lower feed costs in 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>MEGHAN GREBNER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>BROWNFIELD AG NEWS NETWORK<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An ag economist says livestock producers could see some relief in 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its latest report, the USDA lowered its current year price for corn by a nickel and lowered soybean meal price by around $10 per ton.&nbsp; University of Missouri\u2019s Scott Brown says, \u201c$4.80 corn and $380.00 a ton soybean meal.&nbsp; Those are moving in the right direction.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He tells Brownfield producers will need to watch what\u2019s happening with the crops in South America. \u201cWe keep getting different information about the size of that crop,\u201d he says.&nbsp; \u201cA lot of concern about it\u2019s going to be a lower crop, which might suggest doing some price protection sooner rather than later.
