{"id":11962,"date":"2024-01-15T09:19:12","date_gmt":"2024-01-15T14:19:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=11962"},"modified":"2024-01-15T09:19:13","modified_gmt":"2024-01-15T14:19:13","slug":"decatur-employees-repair-main-in-bitter-cold","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2024\/01\/15\/decatur-employees-repair-main-in-bitter-cold\/","title":{"rendered":"Decatur employees repair main in bitter cold"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City of Decatur employees spent more than four hours repairing a water main break in Sunday&#8217;s bitter cold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report of a leak at Adams and 12<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0streets came in around 9:30 a.m., and city workers were on the scene until around 2 p.m., according to Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"204\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/B8D19AEA724449879B41CF7DF7C29885.jpg?resize=640%2C204&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11963\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/B8D19AEA724449879B41CF7DF7C29885.jpg?w=757&amp;ssl=1 757w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/wzbd.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/01\/B8D19AEA724449879B41CF7DF7C29885.jpg?resize=300%2C96&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Eight men were involved in the repair operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The temperature was hovering around the zero mark through the work, with wind chills of 20-25 mph below zero.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was very cold but the guys did a wonderful job getting out there and getting it fixed,\u201d Gilbert said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of the equipment, like pumps and saws, would not run due to the bitter cold, Gilbert noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jared Lengerich, owner of West End restaurant, supplied the workers with hot chocolate during the work.
