{"id":1170,"date":"2023-04-22T11:34:48","date_gmt":"2023-04-22T15:34:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/?p=1170"},"modified":"2023-04-22T11:34:50","modified_gmt":"2023-04-22T15:34:50","slug":"golf-cart-parade-coming-to-decatur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wzbd.com\/index.php\/2023\/04\/22\/golf-cart-parade-coming-to-decatur\/","title":{"rendered":"Golf Cart Parade coming to Decatur"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By BOB SHRALUKA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>WZBD.com<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A unique fundraiser to boost the Kekionga Project \u2013 dog park, softball diamond, etc. \u2013 has been unveiled by the City of Decatur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Community Coordinator Jamie Gephart, a golf cart parade will be held during Downtown Decatur Days on Saturday, June 17.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Further details, Gephart said, will be announced later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All proceeds will go to the project to open a dog park at the site of the former Evergreen Assisted Living facility off Mercer Ave. A pavilion and fencing are already up, financed by money set aside in the city&#8217;s 2023 budget.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More funds are needed, however, as plans call for getting the lights already on site in working order, adding benches and marking the parking lot, plus stocking the pond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>City officials are hoping to have the dog park in operation yet this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Funds are also sought to improve the co-ed softball diamond at nearby Kekionga Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gephart is working on plans to set up a state Patronicity program, wherein the program would match funds raised locally.
