Louis A. Johnson, 70, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2023 at Adams Heritage in Monroeville, Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was born on October 10, 1953 in Decatur, Indiana to the late Lloyd Johnson and the late Bernice (Oberley) Johnson. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Louis was a 1972 graduate of Heritage High School.  He was a member at St. Joseph Catholic Church \u2013 Hessen Cassel, Fort Wayne, and a member of Knights of Columbus Council #12379.  He was a machinist who had worked at several machine shops in the Fort Wayne area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Louis was the longtime \u201cMayor\u201d of Maples.  He had a heart that centered on caring for others.  Neighbors, kids, and others would bring engines or other items that needed attention and he would lend them his expertise in making it work again.  He was instrumental in making a float that was used in numerous parades by the Knights of Columbus and also military organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Survivors include four brothers, David (Wanda) Johnson of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Gary (Linda) Johnson of Monroeville, Indiana; Jack (Linda) Johnson of Plymouth, Indiana; and Michael (Doris) Johnson of Monroeville, Indiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to his parents, Louis was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Johnson and sister, Jean Fitzgerald.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church \u2013 Hessen Cassel, with Father William Kummer officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery \u2013 Hessen Cassel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friends and family will be received on Friday, December 29, 2023, from 2-4 and 5-7 p.m. at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, and from 9:30 a.m. to service time Saturday at the church.  The Holy Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
