The Adams County Historical Society has announced that it has received a $5,000 grant from the Adams County Community Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officials said the funds will go to its Museum Restoration Project, part of which will be restoring the interior entrance sidelights with beveled and leaded glass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Photo shows the original interior entry sidelights from when the Charles Dugan family resided in the Monroe St. mansion. \u201cUnfortunately,\u201d society officials said. \u201cthe original windows had been stolen years ago. Great Panes Glass helped replicate the exterior sidelights in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe project is expected to take several months of painstaking work for each beveled piece to be laid in the pattern and a solid framework (leading) to keep everything in place,\u201d officials continued. \u201cIt is critical that an experienced period artisan complete that work since these windows are old and fragile.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also part of the restoration project is the recent painting of the cigar room, also known as Charles Dugan’s study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis was Charles Dugan’s favorite spot in the house and it got a fresh coat of paint this month, a light beige gave it some brightness,\u201d officials said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They expressed their appreciation to volunteers Kaylehn Brunner and Sandy Adams for taking on that part of the project, which included updating the brick around the fireplace (photo).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
