Lawrence Jerome “Romey” Fuhrman , 90, of New Haven, Indiana passed away early Monday morning, December 29, 2025, at Adams Heritage.
He was born on November 23, 1935, in Decatur, Indiana to the late Lawrence F. and Mabel Fern (North) Fuhrman.

Romey was united in marriage to Harriet Fuelling on April 20, 1968 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling and she preceded him in death on January 23, 2022.
He served his community and his country in the Indiana Air National Guard 122nd Tactical Fighter Wing, being honorably discharged following his enlistment.
Romey was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling in Decatur. He was a former member of Martini Lutheran Church in New Haven.
He was a lifelong farmer in Allen County. In addition to his farm life, Romey was also employed at General Electric in Decatur, retiring in 1982 when they closed the Decatur plant.
Romey and Harriet were involved in square dancing for many years in the Hoagland and Decatur areas. He loved a good Western movie or television program. Among his favorite TV series was the Rifleman and you couldn’t skip or miss a good John Wayne movie. Romey also was fond of tinkering with anything…even if it didn’t need tinkering with! His family was very important also and he developed a very fond relationship with his grandsons, whom he raised as his children.
Romey is survived by his two grandsons, Jerimiah (Juliann) Wylie of Woodburn, Indiana and Brandon (Rachel) Wylie of Fort Wayne, Indiana; sister, Jackie (John) Fisher of Manlius, New York; cousin, Sharon Busick – Howell of Fort Wayne, Indiana; five great-grandchildren, Taylor (Landon) Place, Paige Wylie, Reese Wylie, Addlee Wylie and Laney Wylie and great-great granddaughter, Miah Place.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Fuhrman and a son, Tommy Fuhrman.
A Funeral Service for Romey will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling with Pastor Leonard Tanksley officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Fuelling.
Friends and family will be received from 3-6 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Preferred memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church – Fuelling or Comforting Angels Hospice
