MONROE – Columbia City jumped out to an early lead with a good starting weight, but the Adams Central Flying Jets won their first match of the season in the Hangar, beating the Eagles, 49-23.

The dual meet featured two overtime matches and some rather contentious encounters between visiting fans and the home crowd, but it was ultimately another good night for the unbeaten Jets, who will now set their sights on the New Haven Super 10.

Columbia City won the first two bouts and three of the first five to build a lead, but Mav Dubach’s first-period fall at 150 tied the match at 17-17 and the home team never trailed again.
Inspired by Dubach’s win, Dylan Ogg went after Izaac Driver from the start at 157, scoring a quick 18-2 tech fall.
Brason Schortgen and Xander Schwartz followed it up with two quick falls for coach Ryan Landis’ team.

Arrow Mullinax was able to ride out Max Nussbaum in the second period after a scoreless first period and the Columbia City 190 rode out the win with a third-period takedown for a 4-0 victory to stop a run of four AC wins in a row.
The two teams traded late-takedown wins, with Ethan Funk winning 8-5 for AC at 215 and Braxton Vaught scoring an overtime takedown to beat Ryan Beer at 285 for the visitors.

Ezra Liechty returned to the lineup at 106 and scored an early fall, marking a good sign for the Jets, who are hoping to have Cruz Bowers back sooner than later after the freshman received good news in recent days from doctors.
Fans of the Jets can hear the team’s dual against Northfield and the placement round match on WZBD Saturday.
