The Adams County Community Foundation announced Thursday the recipient of the 2025 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship for Adams County, Reagan Bollenbacher of South Adams High School. According to the ACCF, Lilly Endowment Community Scholars are known for their community involvement, academic achievement, character, and leadership.
Each LECS provides for full tuition, required fees and a special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books and equipment for four years. The scholarship is for undergraduate students studying on a full-time basis leading to a baccalaureate degree at any Indiana college. This scholarship to Purdue is an award of approximately $45,000. Reagan reported that she feels so blessed to have been awarded this generous scholarship.
Eligibility requirements for the ACCF / LECS are: graduating senior from an Adams County high school, Adams County resident, and a minimum GPA of 3.80, as well as a minimum score in the SAT of 1100 or the ACT of 21. The three Adams County Guidance Departments offered various workshops and assistance to the students who qualified.
The Adams County Community Foundation scholarship committee narrowed the field to the top six candidates. Six students were invited to participate in the interview process.
The students interviewed were Ethan Crockett from Adams Central, James Adkins, Everett Colclasure, and Brianna Converset from Bellmont, and Reagan Beitler and Reagan Bollenbacher of South Adams.
Sylvia Scheumann, chairperson for the ACCF Scholarship Committee, reported that she was very impressed with these students. Sylvia said the committee indicated that all the students well represented their family and their schools. Lou Koning added that the interview process is always an exciting time when the committee gets to meet the students whose applications have been read.
