Michael L. Gentis (Mike), 63, passed away on November 30, 2025, at his residence following a sudden cardiac event. Mike was born on October 30, 1962, in Decatur, Indiana, to the late Roger and Norma (Johnson) Gentis. He grew up in Decatur, attending Bellmont High School, before heading off to Bloomington to attend Indiana University.

After graduation he moved to Atlanta where he lived for over thirty years. He enjoyed his years in Atlanta; especially those spent with his dog, Bolo. He spent the last several years in Asheville, North Carolina. He absolutely loved the atmosphere and people. He said it was the best move he ever made.
Mike was in insurance and car sales most of his career. He spent many years with All State and CarMax. He most recently added a part-time job at Home Depot where he was able to interact with people daily. He loved working and he loved people, so he always had a part-time job where he could enjoy both.
Survivors: Sister Nancy Gentis, Nevada – and – Niece Jackie Gentis, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are his chosen family, Nicci Landrum (Sharon Lokuta), Pennsylvania – and – Robert Landrum, Indiana; his chosen niece and nephew, Reagan and Coltan Landrum, both Indiana.
In addition to his parents Mike was preceded in death by two brothers, Philip and Steve Gentis and one sister, Karen Gentis. Per his wishes, there will be no public services. Burial will occur at a later date in Decatur, Indiana.
