For the 15th consecutive year, Stockings for Soldiers has provided a taste of home to local soldiers stationed overseas during this Holiday Season. This year, 16 boxes containing 218 stockings full of 589 POUNDS of goodies were shipped to four soldiers deployed over the holiday season. This brings the total weight in shipped stockings to 11,324 pounds over the 15-year program! That is 5.6 tons of goodies.

The filled stockings were returned for shipment by many people from various businesses and the community at large. On December 3rd, volunteers from various organizations met at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur to package and make ready the stockings for shipment and delivery. Jon Zwick reported that each year letters are received from the platoons, companies, brigades, divisions, and service members that shared these holiday stockings. Their letters of gratitude make this all worth the time, effort, and cost, he says.
The Adams County Community Foundation would like to thank all who contributed to the success of this program … it wouldn’t be possible without YOU!
