The City of Decatur has a budget for 2026 – a state approved budget!
“We are good to go for next year,” city Clerk-Treasurer Eran Hackman told city council at its latest meeting.
Hackman had just recently received word from the Department of Local Government Finance (DLGF) that the state agency has approved next year’s budget.

The $12,793.807 budget will bring a tax rate of $1.437 per $100 of assessed valuation.
The 2024 rate was $1.212.
The general fund in the 2026 budget amounts to $7,027,736.
The new budget also includes a 3% salary increase for city employees.
Mayor Dan Rickord had great praise for Hackman, who moved into the job in May, following the resignation of Kevin Hackman.
“She came in at a hard time; she took it on like a champ,” the mayor said. “She deserves a round of applause.”
(She got one.)
