
James D. “Jim” Genth, 66, of Decatur, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 5, 2025, in Adams County, Indiana.
He was born March 30, 1959, in Bluffton, Indiana, to the late J. Johnny and Barbara “Joyce” (Kincaid) Genth.
Jim was employed by the Adams County Highway Department and had previously worked for Walchle Trucking in Decatur and Dean’s Foods. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts, IU, and NASCAR fan who loved spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends. He especially enjoyed grilling and smoking on his Big Green Egg.
Survivors include his daughter, Holly (Mick) Henry of Van Wert, Ohio; life partner, Linda Morris of Decatur, Indiana; brothers, Johnnie Kevin Genth of Decatur, Indiana and Tony R. (Teena Blum) Genth of Monroe, Indiana; and two grandchildren, Cambren and Summit Henry; Linda’s Children, Tim Morris of Decatur, Indiana; and Chad (Jennifer) Morris of Ft Wayne, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bradley Genth in 1969 and Robert E. Genth in 2005; a sister, Linda Sue Genth in 2004; and sisters-in-law, Nan (Yost) Genth and Becky Genth.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana, with Pastor Ernie Suman officiating. Private burial will be held at Decatur Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2025, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family invites guests to dress comfortably in Colts, IU, or NASCAR attire in Jim’s honor.
