Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, for former Decatur mayor John Schultz, who died Friday at the age of 76.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. that day in St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held from 2-7 p.m. on Monday, November 3, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home.
Schultz, a Vietnam veteran, served many years as a city official while president of Baker & Schultz Construction. After three terms on city council, he was elected mayor in 2008, succeeding Fred Isch.
He served two terms as mayor before before choosing not to seek a third term.
Later, he was elected to Adams County Council, beginning in 2019. Health issues, however, forced him to resign in August of 2020.
Those health issues continued until his passing.
