The DeKalb Barons beat out traditional powerhouses Homestead and Carroll to claim their first golf regional title since 2010, winning by three strokes over runners-up Northridge.
Three of the top teams in the final team standings were from the NE8, showing just how meaningful their conference title was this season.
Taylor Larkins of Carroll claimed the individual title as the only player under par in the field on a foggy Friday morning. Larkins’ 70 also allowed the Chargers to eliminate Homestead from the tournament.

Locally, the Adams Central girls finished off their Cinderella season with a round of 404, beating out fellow ACAC members Southern Wells and also Concordia.
Bellmont’s Ella Hockemeyer finished off a great high school career the way every senior should – with her career-best 18-hole round. Hockemeyer shot 40 on the front, including a birdie on the fourth hole, then 45 on the back.
