Friday is the deadline to apply to become a member of the Mayor’s Youth Council in Decatur.
Applications are available in the office of the guidance department at Bellmont High School and should be returned there by Friday.
All BHS students are eligible.

This will be the fourth year for the council initiated by Decatur Mayor Dan Rickord.
Members of the council work directly with the mayor and city leaders, in addition to helping plan and be a part of community activities.
Meetings are held up to twice a month.
A total of 12 students comprised the initial youth council. The numbers grew to 19 for the 2024-25 school year.
“We have been fortunate to have great students apply, which makes it very hard to make tough decisions and not be able to accept everyone,” noted Community Coordinator Jamie Gephart, who works with the youth group.
